The design of the Lagoon 440 is based on the latest long-range cruising multihull technological developments. Lagoon is the largest builder of cruising catamarans in the world, and the 440 is the most popular cat of its size range. With its raised helm position, the 440 is a fine example of Lagoon’s forward thinking. It’s a brilliant design feature that solves a multitude of problems and creates an equal number of advantages. First, the skipper has complete visibility in all directions, including both the main and jib. Second, the bridge is far enough above the water that you’re unlikely to take any spray in normal conditions, yet it’s close to deck level for easy access when docking. Every sail-handling line on the 440 leads to the bridge, so the skipper can set, trim and douse the sails without leaving the helm. The helm has its own bimini to provide sun/rain/spray protection.
A benefit of the raised bridge is that the cockpit transforms into a lovely and uncluttered entertainment area. The cockpit is covered by a large hard top bimini and there is a console to port with a wet bar.
Stepping into the saloon and galley, you are surrounded by large windows providing a panoramic view and plenty of natural light. The curved lounge and dining table are to port, and the forward-facing settee is topped by a stainless steel rail. The large L-shaped galley faces the cockpit and is designed as a professional area where the chef will be able to reveal his talents. The galley is equipped with two stainless steel sinks, a three-burner stove with oven, and plenty of counter space. A sliding window serves either for fresh air or as a pass-through into the cockpit.
All four cabins are comfortable with queen sized beds, fans, hanging lockers & plenty of storage space. Each cabin has its own ensuite head with vanity & shower. The heads feature electric toilets.
Morena is equipped with top of the line solar panels and an android tablet that enables you to monitor charging. As long as the sun shines, the panels should enable you to have sufficient battery power without having to run your engines for long periods of time. Additional upgrades to Morena are USB charging in the galley & aft cabins, I-pad with Navplay & Pocketgrib, and blue LED lights over the stern. Enjoy complimentary WiFi while onboard.
In building the 440, Lagoon has managed to combine their technical expertise, sailing experience and their understanding of aesthetics to produce a quiet, efficient, well-made boat with all the necessary amenities for comfortable living.
